Ignite events are all about building community and sharing ideas. Ignite Tulsa event organizers had this in mind when they partnered with the Kendall-Whittier Fab Lab. Proceeds from a limited number of $15 VIP tickets to the March 4 event will go to the Fab Lab project. VIP ticket holders will have priority reserved seating and receive special recognition at the event. Tickets to Ignite Tulsa No. 2, scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Blue Dome Diner, 311 E. Second St., sold out more than a week ago. Ignite Tulsa will be an evening of networking, education and entertainment with lighting-fast presentations on a variety of topics. Speakers have five minutes to talk about something they are passionate about using 20 slides set to auto advance every 15 seconds. The Kendall-Whittier Fab Lab is an open source facility for rapid prototyping and manufacturing that can be used by businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, students and inventors. The facility will be available to community members for low or no cost. The development team is in the process of fundraising and selecting a location close to Whittier Square, said Matt Norris, development team member. Ignite Tulsa will be part of the first-ever Global Ignite Week, March 1-4, and joins more than 70 cities from across the globe. More than 12,000 people are expected to attend events in cities including New York City; Boston; Seattle; Nashville, Tenn.; Paris; Sydney; and Tulsa.
