Tulsa Company Named Qualified Security Assessor

3/30/2009

A Tulsa-based information security services firm is the only Qualified Security Assessor based in Oklahoma and one of only a few in the Southwest.

True Digital Security was named a QSA by the PCI Security Standards Council.

Jerald Dawkins, True Digital Security founder and president, understands that his company’s new designation is extremely valuable.  “This is a milestone for our company,” Dawkins said.  “To be the only PCI QSA based in Oklahoma is a significant development for us and the Oklahoma business community.”

The founding members of the Security Council recognize the QSAs certified by the PCI Security Standards Council as being qualified to assess compliance to the PCI Data Security Standard. The Data Security Standard applies to any organization that stores, processes, or transmits cardholder data. While some organizations are required to be validated through the services of a QSA, others use the certification as a means of distinction amongst their competition.

Because the quality of assessments can have such a tremendous impact on the consistent and proper application of security measures and controls, the QSA qualification requirements are exacting and detailed, involving both the security company and their individual employees.

Data security for retail merchants, banks, utilities and many other organizations has become a paramount concern over the past several years.  There are only a relative few firms with the QSA designation compared to the number of organizations that must validate compliance.

“We still hear of numerous cases involving the theft of cardholder data.  PCI has established a well defined baseline for ensuring the proper handling of cardholder data,” said Dawkins.  “In light of the current economic situation it is imperative that consumer confidence not be further diminished by avoidable mistakes.  We aim to assist organizations in realizing not only regulatory compliance but true security. ”
