Set for completion by early fall 2008, the overhaul of the 30-year-old hotel has involved 150,000 hours of construction with 39 local vendors conducting the renovation.

“It’s been wonderful to watch the hotel being transformed, but it also has been extremely challenging to manage a hotel as jack hammers echo through the building,” General Manager Marlin Keranen said. “But when we are done, what a hotel the Crowne Plaza will be. We are excited to be part of the great rejuvenation of downtown Tulsa.”

The 462-room Crowne Plaza has renovated each room, with the exception of the hotel’s five luxury suites, which are in the final stages of renovation. Nearly $1 million has been spent on the suites alone, two of which boast 2,700 SF, the remaining three contain 2,300 SF.

The hotel’s 38,000 SF of banquet, catering and meeting rooms have also been renovated, including the ballroom, which at 10,000 SF is one of the Tulsa’s largest.

Recently, the hotel opened a full-service Starbucks, and the upscale casual restaurant Daily Grill is currently under construction and should open late summer 2008. The hotel’s spa, Elements has also expanded by one-third while the gift shop doubled in size. The hotel is also adding an indoor-outdoor swimming pool.
